From 2-4 p.m., on Sunday, December 8, 2019, March of Dimes and the Arkansas Department of Health will host a safety baby shower for military families as part of the Mission: Healthy Baby program. The event will be held at the Event Center in Jacksonville and will include gift boxes with baby supplies and provide instructions for new parents on topic such as installing car seats and sleep safety for infants. Mission: Health Baby is a March of Dimes sponsored supportive online community for military mothers. It features free health information and support services for pregnant women and new mothers in the military.
Pregnancy during military service has grown more common and can be challenging. According to the Department of Defense’s November 2017 Medical Surveillance Monthly Report, a study found that 13.1% of military women were pregnant in 2016. The March of Dimes recognizes the challenges military mothers face and through the Mission: Healthy Baby program, they strive to help military families through pregnancy and birth.
